Visiting the Zoo in January!

We have had a VERY MILD winter this year... It is now Mid February, and I think we have only had three or four days of snow the entire season!  This time last year, Chicagoland had 20 inches of snow from the "Blizzard of 2011."  This year?  Well there is maybe a dusting of one inch on the ground from some snow last night...

Because of this extremely mild winter, we have been able to enjoy some rather "unusal" Wintertime activities!  Back on January 31st, the weather man projected that we would have 50+ degree weather and it was a free day at the Brookfield Zoo... So Chloe and I decided in 20 minutes that we would join some friends for a fun day at the Zoo!  I quickly packed lunch and snacks and drinks for us and we were off!  I've never gotten ready so quickly before in my life with a 20 month old!  :)

Well the weather man did not disappoint on this day!  It was beautiful and we fully enjoyed seeing all the animals!  Chloe especially liked the monkeys and the giraffes.  (Well she liked the statue of the giraffe the best!)  She was a trooper and was so well behaved the entire day.

Chloe was so fascinated looking at all the animals!

She loved following after the big kids and doing what they were doing..... Here, all the kids had sat in the boat for an educational video about swamps... So Chloe wanted to learn too!

It was hard to get her away from the windows that were just here size....

Beautiful colors!
